Romano maynard 1st model carbine

Hi
 Has anyone had any experience  the  Romano  made Maynard carbines
good bad or otherwise.I am in the market for a new Bp cartridge rifle
and have narrowed dowm my choice to either a Romano maynard and a
Lone Star rolling block sporter.Mainly looking for pure fun factor but have to say being able to take the rolling block out for hunting(45/70 cal) is a plus.Has anyone ever used a 50 cal percussion Maynard for hunting ?
Anyway any help you can give me will be appreciated.
