shotgun for yotes.....
« on: October 23, 2005, 01:00:35 PM »
ok
heres my problem.......
i hunt for yotes on public land..can only use shotgun on pub. land  after 15 Oct here in Ohio.  No reprieve on this reg until January.

Should i use buckshot, like I have before , or keep my rifled barrel and scope i place and use the Rem Cor Lokt Ultra Sabot ammo I have??

Seems that combo would be good out to 100 yards or so, better than the buckshot.....

any thoughts????

I'd go with the buckshot myself, but it depends on how close you can get them. A friend of mine used to hunt them by a nearby lake at night (legal here in AZ at the time; maybe still is); turned on a varmint call and they'd come a-runnin'. Took them with standard loads at 30-40 yards with a 12 ga.
Life was so much simpler when I thought I knew everything...

I vote to use the Buckshot. Here in Arkansas you have to use on pubic land or WMA. Shotgun's no shot bigger than T shot or a 22 rimfire only. VM

I would recomand the shotgun barrel and # 4 buck shot. I would also recomand a mag. extention and keep shooting till they quit moveing.

RFT--I have been using a shotgun on fox and yote's for years .

The best load i have found is # 2 copped coated out of my winchester 1400 with a full choke barrel .

This load is good out to about 80 or 90 yards , One shot kills almost every time
