Your recommended 30-06 load for T/C Encore?
« on: September 02, 2005, 07:13:37 AM »
I intend to work up some hunting loads for a T/C/ Encore with 15" barrel, and would appreciate any recommendations as to what bullet, powder and charge weight to use.  (Also, what are the good sources of loading data for the 30-06 in the T/C/ handgun?  I have the Lyman handbook but it doesn't have anything for jacketed bullets above 150 grains.)

I found a 150 gr. Nosler partition with 50.0 gr. of IMR4064 to be very accurate in my 15 inch Encore.

Redhawk, have you tried any other bullets with 4064?  What about the Nosler BT?

Bigbrass, what load did you find out that worked well and what type of barrel do you have?

I am interested in getting an '06 15 Encore.

Patrick: I haven't had much opportunity yet to try different loads.  Currently working on getting a custom grip. The grip is important because the recoil is fairly stiff.  I will post some information when I have had a chance to try some powders and bullets.

E Arthur Brown Co. (eabco.com) is making a custom walnut grip for me; but I havent received it yet.  You supply an outline of your hand and they will make a grip to fit.

I have not received my 15' 30-06 Custom shop barrel yet and I am curious as to the velocity you get with this load. And also what did you find the best distance off the lands to seat the Nosler for this particular load for your barrel?

Thanks,
Patrick.
