I acquired a French MAS 49/56 rifle in 7.5X54. I would like to reloading for it. I read that to prevent slam fires I should use a military-like primer such as the CCI 34. This is listed as a substitute for any loads that require a magnum CCI primer. Since most of the loads I have found for this caliber don't specify a primer brand period, should I just proceed as I would anyway, with the lowest charge called for and work up from there?
