Kik Powder
« on: October 26, 2005, 07:01:29 AM »
Any one use Kik powder? I bought a pound of it at my favorite shooting range ($13 Lb, FFFG). It is more powerful than the Goex FFFG I left in my gun locker....    brain f@rt. On the can it says manufactured in Slovenia.

A buddie of mine uses it seem he has no problems ,He did harvest a deer with it out of his t/c hawkens and t/c cheapshot sabot. I think graft@sons sell it < I myself stick with Goes 3f in all my large bore rifle 50 @ 54 cal.I placed an order with graft@sons on the internet for goex black with the hazmat fee it still came out cheaper then trying to locate it,funny I was over in PA. the other day at D@R in Naticoke they had BP goex for $12.99 a pound :I think now I have 6 lbs laying around should be enough for a while  :D
I have to say shopping on the internet graft@sons have the cheapest prices when placing a order with them, they charge a flat fee of $4.99 for all internet orders :-D

Have you guys ever tried powder inc. to me the prices are also reasonable and he's quick to he also sells kik, I have used it and the 3fg was the only powder i had that would make my 32 shoot with real impressive accuracy, otherwise i use goex  any one here try that chineese stuff lidu? found a company selling it for 174.00 a case, cheap, but as with anything fron china its probably crap, company also is selling schuetzen ( I hear  is wano new name), for 218.00 a case and goex for 211.00 a case shipping is 20.00. kjg

My latest flyer from Grafs doesn't show Kik, but they do have a private brand made by Wano. $10.00 a pound in Fg, FFg, and FFFg. My CVA Bobcat loves the FFg. They will ship just about any amount u[ to 50 lbs, mixed, if you like, all for the same hazmat fee.

Swiss is my favorite powder.  It does burn much cleaner than Goex and gives more velocity, too.  I don't know how much more, because I don't have a chronograph, but I have reduced my hunting loads, using Swiss, by about 15% from what I used with Goex and seem to have comparable velocity.  My rifles are also more accurate with Swiss.  However, like you said, the price is hard to swallow.

After reading some good reports on Kik powder I purchased some to try.  I really like it.  Jerry, at Powder, Inc., referred to it as the poor man's Swiss because it gives comparable velocity and also burns quite cleanly.  After using some, I would agree with that.  Velocity seems to be equal to Swiss and it burns almost as cleanly, cleaner than Goex.  Accuracy of the loads I have used so far, in my rifles, is outstanding.  At about $210 a case, delivered to my door, it is the best buy in there is in blackpowder, IMO.
