return from Foster ranch 2 hogs with my Hawglite
« on: October 26, 2005, 03:10:03 PM »
i just returned from my hunt for free ranging hogs from the foster ranch in jacksonville, Texas.  This was a free range archery only hunt that is a night time hunt.  they have 4 stand locations with led lights and oil rubs. the lodge was awesome  and the manager was awesome.  the whole operation is the best free range hunt with bows i have ever been on.  he has 12X12 stands  one double decker 12X12 stand and a great 8x8 it is on a creek called mud creek which is a bottom lands lots of hardwoods.
day 1  i got to the ranch a day early and had brought my Hawglite it is a light designed to hunt hogs and varmits at night and attatches to your stabilizer bushing has spot and flood settings and runs off a 9 volt battery comes with green blue and red lenses.  i went to my stand at 6 pm relaxed  and sat there listenting to squirrels  chatter at about 930 pm a group of hogs came to the feeder and started in a feeding frenzy  i quickly drew my bow and turned on the hawglite i found the biggest pig a good sized red sow. released the arrow and waited my usual 1 hr on a bowshot hog.  i got down  and looked at my arrow  i did not see alot of blood but morer clear substance which meant i hit her to far back she had quartered towards me just as i released.  i looked for her for an hr  then decided to wait until morning. at daylight i went to the spot where i met my guide james foster  we found her 200 yards away  took the pictures the high fives and all loaded her up  and james showed me how to skin and quarter a hog in 3 minutes  no joke  it works!!!!
Day 2  i was trying to decide on what stand to hunt  so i decided to go back to the same stand same scenario was going through my head and all when about 30 small hogs came in  i found the largest hog in bow range and shot him  he went 25 yards and piled up  my lights ran out of juice before i found him temperature was 29 degrees so i waited until morning. i again woke up early and found my pig.
this was the best free ranging hog hunti have been on i recoment this  place to anyone it is archery only though  you will probally need a hawglite though it sure helped me alot  james is an awesome guide  can someone please help me post my pics

3 minutes to skin and quarter a pig.   It takes me that long to get my knife out.
Can you elaborate?
