sorry for my lack of teminoligy,
does anyone have a close-up picture of the barrel adjusting setup on a pack-carrage
for my howitzer.

You really need to get the AOP Mountain Howitzer folio. Details of the elevation screw and box are in there.

Here is a the elevator from a scale model of the Mountain Howitizer.

You will have to scale it to your tube, so here is the tube from that same drawing to scale from.

Boy those old pencil and T-square drawings are so much easier to read than those high tech CAD drawings.
