easy to load in sidekick?
« on: November 09, 2005, 06:05:05 PM »
Hi I am about to go out and buy a bunch of bullets to try in my new sidekicks (one is syn/ss and the other is wood/blue both 26" barrels) what sabot/bullet load the easiest in these guns, I know powerbelts but how about the sabertooths(?) I think there called, anyone use them, I guess I am looking for a bullet that will load tight but not too tight, I am nervious about the loose powerbelts I want something that will stay seated, aswell I want a bullet that will preform the way its supposed to everytime...and put the hurt'n on em,,    we grow some big bodied deer here so should I keep my bullet wieght around 250-300?

xtp 240 gr load Ok but stiff
Barnes Expander MZ 250  load hard.
Winchester Platinum tip 260 gr. load Ok
Winchester Partition Gold 260 gr  load Ok

This year I will use Winchester Platinum tip 260 gr with HPH24 sabots over 2 Pyrodex pellets. Very accurate and a good price. The HPH24 sabots are .002 smaller than the HPH12 sabots that come with the bullets.

I have some Winchester partition gold 260 gr. bullets that load well with the HPH24 sabot. Also very accurate, but more expensive than the Plat. tips..

Next year I will try Nosler Partition HP 260 gr  and 300 gr.bullets with the HPH24 sabot. Its the same bullet as the Win. Partition Gold, but I will buy bullets and sabots separately in order to save money After I use up my Pyrodex pellets, I will switch to  90 - 100 gr. FFFg T7.

My Sidekick is sighted in with the Win. Plat tips and 2 Pyrodex pellets.
Firearm season begins Nov. 15th. I like the Sidekick enough to use it  rather than my Rem. 870 Deer gun. I get smaller groups at 100 yds. with the Sidekick.

I tried many combos, and the easiest loading and great shooting is the Buffalo Bullet Company Ball-Et, half roundball on top, half hollow conical in the back. Comes in 245 and 270 grain in .50  I use the 245 grain bullet. Already lubed, and about $9-12 for 50. I love them!! 2nd easiest is the patched roundball, .490 ball .15 patch. Jack.

Bullets I use
« Reply #4 on: November 11, 2005, 03:53:44 AM »
I use 195 gr QT from precision muzzleloading. I also use 2 777pellets . Great accuracy, low recoil and the performance cannot be beat. I feel folks are cheating themselves if the do not try their products. I also installed one of their 25 acp breech plugs as I stated in another thread. Reply if one rifle outshoots the other. I have had 4 muzzleloaders , 2 blue and 2 stainless. The blued models outshot the stainless easily,I do not have an answer for this . I curently have a Blued Sidekick and may consider a stainless one .
