I have purchased a mercury recoil reducer to install in an Encore camo buttstock. Is there anyone here with experience installing one in the hollow synthetic cavity? My thoughts are to put a filler of some light product (foam?) and fill the gaps with Acra-glass (wanting to keep the stock relatively light). Any experience / thoughts would be appreciated.

I have not put one in a hollow synthetic stock, but i have one in my Walnut stock. I think you would want a good sturdy place to put the mercury recoil reducer. I would think it need to have good support in order for it to be effective. If it has a chance to move around, I think it would defeat the purpose. You may want to try a spray foam filler or contact the maker of the mercury recoil reducer and get there advice.

Thanks guys. I have the Limbsaver pad and what I was thinking around the MRR was to fill the void in the stock with some type of filler material that would "hold" the MRR and then anchor all with epoxy (using the thin Acra-glass poured over everything, sealing and anchoring in place). I know this can be done with lead shot in an AR stock, but I'm not wanting all of that weight from the shot.

This is how I install them in wood stocks: 1, wrap MRR with tape to get a tight fit then install, 2, measure the distance from the end of the MRR to the recoil pad plate then cut a piece of wood dowel just a little longer so, when you install the dowel its a tight fit. Make sure the wood dowel is the same size as the MRR. Works great.
