Info Request regarding the King Ranch
« on: September 20, 2005, 04:13:39 PM »
A fellow we know is wanting to go on a hunt on the King Ranch. He says he saw a show or ad on TV about the hunt. Says he also knows a fellow who went.

It's supposed to be a cull archery hunt for 7 days and he thinks the cost is $1000 for the week. I can't believe that price but regardless.

The best I recall some outfitter has the archery deer lease on the King and Kennedy Ranches and another the nilgi lease. Can anyone put me in touch with either or both outfits? Just need contact info to pass on to the fellow. He can take it from there.

You are so right Gun Runner. And in the process of finding it out I got a virus added for my effort. It added Downloader.Trojan which is a Trojan Virus to my computer according to Norton.

Norton said it couldn't fix it and neither did it or AVG stop it. BUT the other day my wife somehow got it on her computer, mostly likely our youngest son who shares the computer with her did it. AVG did remove it from hers. I'm about to run it now to see if it will take it from mine.

I removed the link in the post above so no one else can click on it.

I did a google search for 4 arrows outfitters and four arrows outfitters.
I could not find a net location for either, it seems the website no longer exist.
The reviews at a couple of sites which had 4 and four arrows listed were good reviews but the links to 4 or four found the site no longer exist.
I had heard of these folks but had never contacted them because of lack of interest.
The King ranch holds an interest for me as a kindof student of the history and folklore of this place. I do know that it was one of the places which fostered the hired/canned hunts in Texas and was one of the originators of exotics introduced into this region (Texas, that is).
I would suggest that a further contact with the King ranch would give a more profitable source of hunting this place.
Blessings

:D Don't forget the YO and Kennedy ranches, I think the YO was one of the first to offer fee hunting.  And also among the first to stock exotics.  The Powderhorn ranch near Port Lavaca was offering "canned and exotic" hunts back in the early 60s.  Poachers on the ranch caused me many problems while working for Parks and Wildlife.  I remember one occasion where we almost had to fight a deputy sheriff, he said it was our responsibility to arrest an individual that had killed an exotic, we maintained it was not game as defined by the Parks and Wildlife and should be handled as a theft.  Ahaa..the good old days.
