I wonder if anyone has ever done a punkin' with blackpowder? ? ! !

Oh, the old "Punkin Chunkin". They have done that in Delaware for many years. unfortunately, not when I lived in PA. It would have been worth the trip. As, for using Black Powder it is not listed on their site.

However, I'm sure it can be done. If, all else fails at least you would cook the pumkin a bit before it hits the ground.... :lol:

I'll bet with a small, still green, very hard pumpkin and a sabot it could be fired in a black powder tube and most likely survive the flight to the target/backstop. :wink:

Hmmmm. Round piece of plywood, 1" wide sheet-metal strap holding the 'punkin' ball onto it. I WISH I had a larger-than-bowling-ball mortar!

I doubt, though, that even M.C.Switlick would have a recommended load for the 'original' punkin-ball load. I'll just have to look....
