Well, so much for Harriet.
« on: October 27, 2005, 05:24:48 AM »
I was willing to trust the President when he nominated Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court, but I did have at least one reservation--her age.  Other than that, I thought it might be a good idea to choose someone who hadn't been a judge.  At least one of the things that have come up most recently caught in my craw.  It is said that Ms. Miers came out in favor of an income tax for Texas.  Bad, bad on her.

The best part of Harriet deciding to withdraw is that it makes Harry Reid sad.  If it puts old Harry into a permanent or even a temporary downer, then Harriet has served her purpose.

Now I hope the President picks someone who will drive Harry and the rest of the Dumbycrats to distraction.  Dubya has got to learn that whatever makes the lefties happy, he needs to stay away from that trap.

Well, until I am convinced otherwise, I will take Miers' withdrawal at face value and accept that it was her idea.  I believe she had a lot of help making up her mind, but like I said, I think it was her decision.

I hope Dubya takes a lesson from this and quits trying to not ruffle the feathers of the turkeys on the left.  They don't like him and they aren't going to like him.

I don't know who would be the best nominee that Bush could pick next, but from what I've seen, there are some really good possibilities--if they are willing.  I would love to see the fight that would come if Janice Rogers Brown were the pick.

A great example of being "cooperative"...He virtually let the old Massachusetts walrus craft his own "education bill"..then what happens whenever the Pres could use a bit of cooperation from Teddy ?

There is no sense pretending that the leading democrats will ever truly cooperate about anything..

I believe that a big thing with her was that she is anti abortion, the dumcraps couldn't stand the thought of not being able to kill babies at will. POWDERMAN.  :D  :D

She's a Democrat wearing a RINO suit, just like Bush.

Be glad she decided to walk.

They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

FW..
  Wrong again..

For starters...Miers and the Pres are both pro-life...

Which Democrat is speaking out in defense of the little girls and boys that are being slaughtered ?

Yes; some liberal RINOS are on the death side...but that is one of the main features that label them RINOS...

Clearly, Miers and Bush don't qualify....so how about withdrawing the RHINO allegation ?

We don't live in a Black and White world.  The Pres doesn't need to nominate anyone that would overly P.O. anyone else.  Any sitting judge needs to be neutral.. moderate... his job (by my understanding) is to apply existing law, not to twist any law to fit any right or left agenda.  A good judge's personal beliefs should never have an affect on the cases brought before him.  His personal feelings and beliefs are irrelevant.  He need only read the applicable laws and apply them to the situation at hand.
The term "legislate from the bench" is thrown around on both sides of the isle but it's funny how nobody complains when they're doing it for their side.
