Scope info- help me - never heard of it.
« on: March 03, 2003, 11:35:16 AM »
Ok you scope experts help me out here. I have come across an old scope that I have never heard of and have a chance to buy it cheap. The scope is  a 4-10 power, constructed of steel I think as it is sturdy and heavier than modern scopes. It is a one piece tube with caps on the adjustment wheels that are like none I have seen and a little difficult to describe. It also has a focusing ring on the eyepiece. The reticle has three heavy posts on the sides and bottom with a very fine wire post on the top. It is extremely clear and bright. On the side of the scope it says Supra 4-10 variabel -made in Germany. On the eyepiece it has the markings Nikel- Memburg. Any one ever heard of these scopes? any idea of value?  Thanks!

The Supra scopes were imported by Continental Arms Company in New York City until 1974. These scopes were made by Nickel who was an engineer at the Zeiss plant. They are equal to a Zeiss of that era. Should be an alloy tube scope and not steel. The tube is 26mm in diameter. They are a rugged scope and according to Stroebel's book, the 4 to 10X is worth from $275.00 to $325.00. The Nickel scope was lasted listed in the Gun Digest in 1974. This information was taken from Stoebel's book on old scopes.

Wow!   Now that is some excellent information. Thanks sjc1.  I was going to keep the scope as it is really very nice and I only gave $25 for it.  Maybe I will put it up for sale and get that Elite 4200 I have been wanting.
