1986 Honda 250 2x4 and 1996 Polaris xplorer 400 4x4
« on: December 09, 2005, 04:37:16 PM »
I have found the above two atvs. The Honda is a one owner: never been in the rain and always garaged(Senior Adult Owned). I will see it tommorrow but the owner told me over the phone he wanted $1800. The Polaris is in excellent shape with 1300 miles... he wants $1800. Any comments. I don't know what model etc. about the Honda.

Both are over priced even if they are in excellent condition.  The guy with the almost 20 year old Honda is looking to recoup the original purchase price.  The Polaris is just a bit over priced at least for my area.

I'm with Old Syko, the Honda is way over priced and the Polaris might be in the right ball park.  defiantly look the Polaris over real good if you go to look at it.  The price may sound good but thee also may be a reason it is at that price.

10 years diff in technology
Honda is a 2 wheeler 2X4 surely a 4 stroke/shaft drive/not much ground clearance
I am guessing it will have "Racks and Reverse" and an "Auto Clutch", drum brakes
a small slug/turd of a bike, but don't get me wrong, a fine bike if thats
what type your after...

if the Honda isn't the "Utility" bike as I describe, it might be one of the
all time special racing bikes (2 stroke/clutch-5 speed/ no racks or reverse)
many people would call this a 'collectable'

The Polaris on the other hand is all together differant !
Big heavy, lots of ground clearance, fat plush seat, lots of suspension, big
tires. It will be a 2 stroke, 3 chains drive, Full Automatic, Disc brakes. It will be a true
4WD (all tires spin/no limited -slip) by the push of a button. It has Hi-Lo
Range, Racks and Reverse.

Xplorer is a dual purpose bike. Push the 4X4 button, run around in 2 wheel
drive, spinning back tires (power-slide) get wheelies, just plain have fun.
Push the 4X4 button again your in 4 wheel drive. Put the shifter in LO Range
load the racks up, hook up a trailer, snow plow blade, or lawn mower,
mega utility bike. If the bike is truely in "GOOD" shape $1800 might not
be too bad. The Xplorer sold new around my area, $5000-$5200 9 years
ago. A top notch machine...

Hope to hear what you found out, and/or what ya ended up doing
