I recently stopped by my local sportsmans club to check into joining. They were having an "aspirin" shoot and asked me to join them. There were several offers to shoot their guns. Most were heavy barreled rifles. I got hooked real quick. I am on a limited budget but need a rifle that will hold a 1/2 group at 50 yards consistently. Will the CZ rifles do that and if so which one would be the best overall......Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard!! :D  My CZ452 American 17hmr will do that most of the time at 100yds, at 50yds, it would consistently do .250"-375"...

I have the 452 Trainer ( $230.) I use it with open sights, the factory sights are some of the best ever put on a .22. I can keep -1" at 50 if I'm real careful. With a scope, 1/2" or less is possible. The gun has an adjustable trigger and a $14 dollar kit can turn it into a match trigger.

This is from this AM, 10/29.  CZ Trainer, factory iron sights, Brooks trigger kit. 10 shots, 50 yards. Winchester Super X LHP.

I don't think it is too bad as I'm 59 and wear tri-focals.

I really don't think you can do any better in the price / accuracy arena than with a CZ.  These rifles are extremely accurate out of the box.  With the CZ452's most folks put in a Brooks trigger kit that cost about $15.  The CZ453's come with a single set trigger which is simply outstanding.

I just bought a CZ 453 and did a lot of price shopping both in local shops and on the internet.  Best prices I found were at Whittaker Guns
http://www.whittakerguns.com/

Pricing ranges from $187 for the CZ452 Basic, or Scout to $409 for the new CZ 453 American.

Here is a link to the CZ website: http://www.cz-usa.com/01.04.php

Here are a couple of targets shot on my first trip to the range with the CZ453.  Note: all groups are 5 shot groups.

Shot at 25Yds - white circles are 1/2" diameter.

Shot at 50Yds - Note: wind was picking up when I shot these.

For the cost of the CZ's, I just don't believe you are going to be able to beat the accuracy of these rifles.

Good luck
