remington SAUM's are they dead?

Don't see any rifles chambered for these or ammo anywhere. Are these rounds dead?

Maybe not totally but they are for sure on their death bed. The WSMs for the most part won't be far behind them in passing.

The only thing the SAUM's and WSM's did was get people accustomed to seeing $39.99 for a box of Ammo. 

Since some people were delighted to pay high prices for such loads, all of us will soon be paying much more for ammo.  Even for common rounds.

Anyone who has priced reloading components lately can tell you where prices are going.

How long have the SAUM's been around?

Last year I read a few posts on various boards with the tone that the RUM's were on there way out.  This was after I bought a .338RUM. 

I was going to eventually start stocking up on brass but then I found this place:

Which makes me wonder how many other custom ammo companies are out there that will make the rare stuff?

The reason why I am asking is because I'm starting to look for a light weight rifle for out west next year. I looked at Remington's websight about their titanium rifles and they offer them in several standard rounds and the SAUMs. I thought the SAUM were dead already and was suprised to see Remington still offering them. What I did think was odd was that Rem doesn't offerer them in some of their other rifles but does offer the WSM. Also looking at a rifle that is offfered in the WSM. Greybeard you feel that the WSMs are also on their way out? Seems like it. I don't think I've ever seen a group of cartridges that araived with more fanfare and died so quickly. I am considering a Remington titanium in 30-06 and getting it rechambered to Ackley Improved.

The .300 WSM will likely last the longest but ten years from now I'd not expect to see anyone chambering it and ammo will be in short supply. The others I'd not bet on being that well off five years from now. They will just be a passing fad no more.

The Rem. SAUM's are in the books. Have a 300saum in the 673 Guide Gun and am very fond of it. The wsm's put a hurtin on the saum. I will have to disagree with GB on the wsm's not living long. IMHO the 270 and 300 WSM will be around for ever. 7mm wsm may be on the the bubble.  The 300 and 338 RUM I feel will make it. with the 7mmrum and 7mm stw, only one or neither will last.
Having a 300saum, 270wsm ,7mmrum, and 300 rum, at least I'm two fer four, at least for now. I also think the 270wsm will last over the 300wsm for the simply reason that there is a larger margin between the 270 win and the 270wsm, but the 300wsm and 300wm are very close balisticlly.
