Adjustable trigger on Tikkas
« on: June 03, 2003, 05:43:59 AM »
I have 2 Tikkas.  One is a Tikka Laminated Stainless in .25-06, and the other is a Tikka Stainless Synthetic in .243.  These are the Whitetail Hunter models, not the T3s (although for purposes of this post, I am not certain if that makes any difference.)

What I wanted to inform everyone is that the Tikka triggers are VERY, VERY EASY AND SAFE to adjust.  In fact, all I had to do is take the barreled action out of the stock and turn a screw counter-clock-wise to lower the trigger pull.  I estimate that the pull from the factory was about 3 1/2 pounds, and that it is now down to about 2 3/4 pounds.  Tikka does not advise that the trigger pull be lower than 2 pounds (which is fine with me.)

What an easy task.  I own several remingtons and winchesters, but I have NEVER adjusted the triggers myself.  Rather, I have spent about $50 to have a professional gunsmith do a trigger job.  But such a job is not needed on a Tikka.  You just gotta love those Tikka Triggers!

Have any of you ever adjusted your triggers with such ease?

Tikka Trigger Adjustment

The trigger on my Tikka is so good it's scary.  It's to light for hunting.  When I get around to it I'm going to take it up to about 4lb's.

Zachary, I adjusted mine to about 2.5 lbs. when I got it.  Like yours, mine is a Whitehunter in 270 caliber, but blue.  I love that trigger on my Tikka.

Tikka Trigger Pull

If I was guessing I would say mine came somewhere between 2  1/2 and 3lbs.  Thats OK for the Bench, but I don't want to hunt around folks with that light of a trigger pull.

:) Tikka as well as Sako have fantastic triggers.  Then add the fact, like you have said, of probably the easiest trigger in the world to adjust and you have another great reason to GO TIKKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8)

Do you work for Tikka Zachary? You should be on a salary from them! Im just joking! what i do want to know is, if you like Tikka's so much why dont you go all the way and get a Sako? I compared them and i dont think the price is all that much more but you can realy feel and see the fit and finish of the Sako over the Tikka.
Cheers..

You know, as much as I endorse Tikkas, perhaps I should get paid a little something! :)

« Reply #8 on: June 04, 2003, 08:21:38 AM »
I've heard great things about sako triggers but I have a m591 and I need to lower the trigger pull. It pulls 3.25 lbs. and I woud like to get it to 2 or 2.5 lbs. I'll take any recomendations. Also does anyone know if the tikka triggers can be installed on it.     Thanks

I just bought another Sako this year.  The 7m weatherby caliber was a little too much in the recoil for lots of shooting so I moved down a notch to the 7mmRem. Now I do not know if my trigger is the same as your model but it works just like Zachery said with the Tikka.  At most it is a 5 min. job.  I have the mechanical apptitude of a squash and it really was easy. :D

LOL! :-D

I love my Tikka Whitetail Hunter too. Just took it to the range for the first time tonight and last 4 groups were right around 1" at 100yds. Factory ammo. Can't wait to load up some handloads for it and see it shoot. One group was around .75".

I lightened the trigger to about 2.5 lbs. but after tonight I'd like it a bit lighter, probably about 2.25.

I took my Tikka Whitehunter last week to the range and at 200 yards it shot 1 5/8" groups for 5 shots and that includes one I through out.  I have a 270 Winchester and I reload my own, but all I did was follow Nosler recommendations in their reloading book.  My trigger is down to about 2.5 lbs. great trigger and great rifle.

my trigger came from factory at 3.5 pounds. i have whitetail hunter as well in stainless/syn. These are great rifles. Topped with a Zeiss conquest 3.5-10X44. My best 3 shot group at 100 is .25" and yes I kept the target and luckily i had a friend their to witness it. I used factory hornady sst's 150grain.

It my experience, Hornady makes some of the most consisetently accurate factory ammo available.  Combine that with the accuracy of a Tikka, and I'm surprised that your groups are only .25" :)
