I blew out a aimpoint on my 44Mag. It got replaced, but not a good thing to happen if you are hunting.

I have a Simmons 4X on mine, a 15" Encore 460. It's holding up so far. With the range of a 460, you might want to scope yours instead of using a red dot.

I agree with you on the scope. I have a Bushnell 2X6X32mm on mine. Sure helps on those 150 yard shots.  :D

I sure hope I get a 150 yard shot on a deer next month. Passed up a 35 yard shot the Saturday evening on a buck that I should have culled. ( Black Powder season) Same deer I passed on last year, will never have a good rack. This year , had 2 antlers about 15" tall with forks on top ( 4 pointer). My better half called me stupid...I guess I agree.. :(

poncaguy, sounds like one that needs needs to come out of the gean pool. I took out a 5 point that was never going to amount to anything.

Well guys i'm sighting this gun in for a friend of mine. He thinks this is a 80 yard cartridge. But he will find out when i get it sighted in. I'll tell him about putting a scope on it.

                    thanks Chad M

It is a 200 plus yard cartridge.  :D  80 yards is not even a problem as long as the shooter is up to it.

Is this a rifle or handgun barrel.  Either way, you should be getting better patterns then the three inches.  Was that factory ammo or reloads?

I have to agree with Lawful Larry. I get 1 1/2 inch groups with my S&W460 at 100 yards.  :D

Well the red dot didn't last long, it started moving with every shot after a 100 rounds. Replaced it with a burris 2x scope, But it was moving too. I checked the base. The guy from fox ridge told me to shoot 454's in it will shoot better. the chamber is too big so my friend is sending it back.

That does not sound right. If it was chambered for the 460, it should handle 460 loads?????

Also what is moving on the red-dot and scope. The scope in the mounts?

I find that my 460's stick in my 15" Encore chamber, let it cool for 2 or 3 minutes and I can usually pull the case out with my fingers. Have no trouble with 454 Casull or 45 +P Colt rounds....how about urs Redhawk?
