This past Saturday, November 12th, the Central Oregon Shooting Sports Association Handgun Silhouette club hosted a Ladies Only, Free silhouette shoot.
The event was a huge success with 16 ladies participating. We provided Starbucks coffee, donuts and warming fires to make the ladies comfortable. We also provided scoped 22's and ammo along with "one on one" instruction to help the ladies bust some steel.
All of the ladies hit mulitple 22 targets. Some only fired 10 rounds and some fired 50 but everyone left with huge smiles. We picked up two memberships for the range and we converted three "never touched a gun before" ladies into pro handgun shooters.
What a great event, and was topped off with four $25 gift certificates to the local Sportsman's Warehouse being given away. All of the other ladies got a $10 off of a $50 purchase, coupons. Many of the coupons were redeemed the same day.
Happy ladies and new shooters for all. This will become an annual or maybe a semi-annual event, but next time we will advertise more and hold it earlier in the year (warmer). Bring a friend to a match.
