I am leaning heavily towards a Winchester Model 70 Stealth. I wanted something in .220 Swift, but I can not find one for under a grand, and Ruger doesn't offer one with a Bull Barrel. I am just going to get a .22-250. Give me some comments on the Model 70 Stealth, if you wouldn't mind.

SAWgunner, I use a 220 swift and a six millimeter. They both are getting hard to find. Looking at the ballistics in Nosler's reloading manual, there are loads for .243 that exceed 4000ft/sec. Check it out before you make up your mind. OOBuckshot

Don't even
think
about the Stealth. I have just heard too many spotty things about that gun!
If you want a varmint gun, then consider the following (kinda in order of my preference)...
1. Tikka Continental (Tikka varmint rifle - wood with heavy blue barrel)
2. Remington VS SF (Sendero SF, except for varmint cartridges)
3 and 4 tied - Howa 1500 Varmint and Savage 12 BVSS or 12FVSS with new accutrigger.

SAWgunner,
Seeing that you're leaning toward the Winchester anyway why not lean the way I did and get the M70 Coyote. It's just about what you're looking for. I got mine in the new .223 WSSM and so far it's really looking up. Accurate, try groups that are averaging under .75" and I'm still trying loads for it. It's faster than either the .220 Swift or the .22-250. If you want you can go the .22-250 route in the Coyote but if speed is what you're looking for why not go with the new "faster" kid on the block. The reason I went with the Coyote is I wanted the heavy barrel and I DIDN'T want a "plastic" stock on my rifle. Lawdog

Well, my family uses the .220 Swift, so reloading is easy. I guess it is a "Go with how you were raised" thing. heh heh. I made my decision and purchase today, and I am making a new post for it. Thanks for all the help, gentlemen.
