Is there a 35 Rem AI?

I'd love to have a Marlin in 35 Rem. but would love to have just a little more velocity than the factory round.  Does a 35Rem AI exist?  I've heard of firms that will rechamber a Marlin 35Rem to 356Win, but that just doesn't trip my trigger.  

Reloading isn't a problem for me as I do it already for my other guns, but finding load data does seem to be a problem for the less popular AI rounds.

Any info would be appreciated.

I suppose in concept at least an AI of it is possible. But it wouldn't really gain you anything. There is darn little body taper anyway and not enough case diameter for a different shoulder angle to help. Can't imagine even 100 fps at same pressure levels. Buffalo Bore loads the Speer 220s to 2200 fps in this and that's the most powerful ammo for it I'm aware of. If that won't do it you need more gun than the .35 Rem.

220's at 2200fps would probably do the trick.  Heck 200's at 2200fps would be a leap over what I've seen listed which has been around 2000fps and less.  

I went to another website (www.ammoguide.com) and looked at the 356 Win round that I saw mentioned on the Marlin forum. as a conversion  It looked interesting.  I reckon if I need more than 2200fps, I might look at that round.

SSK Industries an advertiser here on GBO does the .35 Rem. to .356 Win. conversion. I have a rifle I bought just for the conversion and have since picked up a large quantity of .356 Win. cases to load for it. But haven't sent it to JD yet. Really Tim's 220s at 2200 fps are all a fellow would need.

I've never been displeased tho with the performance of those 200 RNs bullets at about 2000 fps. They really slam game.

On another note...An Ackly shoulder on the 35 Rem might just fix the constant headspace and misfire problem that it is so famous for.

Maybe but I've never seen it in a Marlin rifle, only TC barrels. I think the problem is barrel related not ammo related. I've owned several TC barrels in the round and all but one of them misfired as often as fired even with factory ammo. That other one tho fired every time and even the ammo that had been dented but not fired in previous barrels.

I personally do not think there is a problem with the round, only with TC barrels so chambered.

This conversation is so old I don't know if you'll find this posting.  Some years back there was an article on the 356 rimless.  The author had a Marlin 336 reamed from 35 Remington to 358 Winchester with no other changes.  

He called it the 356 Rimless because he loaded it not to 358 levels but to 356 levels since Marlin had chambered the 336 in 36.

The cartridge fed through the action with no changes and he got the improvement in performance he was looking for.  He did mention that anyone doing this would have to make sure 358 ammo wasn't used in the gun and that Marlins warranty would be void.

I always thought this wildcat was a great idea, it fulfilled a real need.  I just never got around to doing it after "discovering" the '06 with 200 grain bullets.  Still, a Marlin in 356 Rimless with a custom stock and a touch of border engraving....

I'm going to find out this weekend what my .35 Remington can do with the 200-gr Rem Core Locks ..... headed into the Granet Range here in Montana.  We will be hunting mule deer and elk, and I should do fine staying within short/med ranges.
