Marlin 1894 scope base
« on: November 04, 2005, 05:59:38 PM »
Can anyone recommend a Weaver-style one piece base for the 1894 that sits lower than the Weaver or the Leupold Rifleman? I'm trying to get as low to the bore as I can using Burris Super-Low ZEE rings. I'm going with the one-piece base because the spacing of the mounting holes on the receiver is so close. The scope has a 20mm objective. Thanks all, any ideas are welcome.

B Square???

I'm waiting for my Weaver base from Brownell's but I wonder how high the B Square base is?  I know GB really badmouths B Square but it might be an option.  Is it Warne or Talley that makes the 2 piece, combination ring and base?

Be sure you have clearance at the rear for your hammer even if it has a side spur attachment.  I'm still startled that the latest Williams receiver mount won't clear the hammer with an aperture inserted.

I sure am enjoying my new FG (first centerfire Marlin).  Just cleaned it last night.  I never realized how easy a Marlin lever is to remove to allow cleaning from the breach!!!  Wish I'd known that 37 years ago when I bought my Win 94.

I'll have to take a look at the B-Square. I like those Talley Lightwieghts but the 1894 receiver is so short that it's hard to clear the turrets and still get proper eye relief. That's the main reason I'm looking at one-piece bases. They give a little more stretch.

GB isn't kidding...

Bsquare is junk. I bought rings for my marlin .17HMR and tightening them down caused the screws to strip and the heads rounded on the torx.

not to mention the cheap feel of them.

they were cheaper but i wont be using them ever again.

Whew! That's bad when torx screws round out!  I've had ok luck with some B Square rings, but come to think of it I could tell the allen screws shouldn't be cranked down real hard.  Doesn't matter so much on a .22 LR.

I have been careful and avoid B Square for more demanding stuff like magnum air rifles and such.  I've liked the BKL mounts there.
