Greetings. Im an ice fishin fool. Only thing cutting into this is coyote and lion hunting. Well, OK, last year this time I shot a big ol cow elk so winter is not all ice fishin. A tip up is a set line type of rig that spans the hole and has a spring loaded flag. The line spool is suspended under water (on most models) and set to trip when a fish pulls some line the flag goes up. Love to see it trip, like watchin a bobber go down. We are allowed 6 tip ups per person, in some waters and what a burst it is. I was just out sunday with the wife. Not a tip up/six line lake but got three good trout. The ice was over 2 feet thick. A bar will get you about a 30 minute sweat fest for two holes, ok three if yer built like Joe Millionaire. We're allowed two per person on the lake we were on. I got a Jiffy 31 Legend 85cc 10inch, and it's a drillin machine, would'nt own anything else. I use a small jig with 1/2 a meal worm tipping the hook point. THey were taking a black head with big bright orange eyes, and a chrome mylar hairy thingymajigger best that day.
