Heritage Rough Rider

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Rough Rider 22lr/22mag. by Heritage.  My brother-in-law has one and loves it, but is the savings over a Single-Six worth it? Shops around here have thm for as low as $135, so I'm kind of hesitant to buy one.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

I had one some years ago with the interchangeable cylinders (.22/.22mag). It was a good little plinker for the money. I think I paid @ $150 for it. Quality is what you'd expect for the money, but not bad, all things considered. My local gun-shop guy sells quite a few of 'em. Ruger definitely has a much better quality gun. If you're looking for something that will be with you a long time, spend a few extra bucks and pony up for the SS. You won't be sorry.

I have a Bounty Hunter I picked up a while ago for $85 used.  They seem to sell for about $200 new.  This is a full size gun with the interchangable cylinders and has a transfer bar.  I love it!  It is one of the nicest shooting .22 revolvers I have every owned and that includes several Rugers.  Yes, being a full sized gun, it is heavier to pack in the woods but not by that much.  Mine is the 6 shot with a 6 1/2" barrel but they also make it in 8 shot with a 4 1/2" barrel which would be a little lighter.  Take a look at them if they are available near you.  I think you will be pleased.  44 Man

Well I was in your shoes a little while ago, looking for a 22 revolver, thought man heritage sounds good for the price but i got to comparing them and the increase in quality with the ruger was just too great to bother with the heritage.

I am of the opinion to do something right the first time and not look back, i dont plan on ever getting rid of my new bearcat( until im real old and my kids or grandkids want it).  I would spend the 100 -150 extra and get the Ruger Single Six or Bearcat. I also pretty much buy only american so it was the logical choice for me.

I bought a Rough Rider .22/.22mag about a year ago for the little guy
to shoot. It was just over a hundred ($119). Well as time goes by and
shooting it plenty I have grown very fond of the little 6-shooter.

It's shoots very well, and is trouble free.
Sure it is not a single six, but for 1/3 of the price I am glad I bought it...

My daug. got the 6" for plinking and small game. I picked up a 3 1/2" birdsheadto carry fishing and gold panning. Wife tryed mine and I havant had it since. If she takes the little grandkids for a hike it goes on her hip.
Wounder how it shoots? :roll:
