European cartridge ID???
« on: June 05, 2007, 02:11:51 AM »
Recently went to a German gun show and saw a type of cartridge that I’ve never seen or heard of before.  Thought I’d see if anyone had any ideas about it.  The guy had three of them in a case but he was really busy selling stuff and didn’t seem to speak any English.  Of course the Frau und Kinderen drug me out of the show before I could get back to try to ask him about it so…  This was about the same length as a .30-’06 but it had TWO shoulders.  About one-half inch up from the base, it had a shoulder that was fairly sharp then at the “normal” point, it had another shoulder that served to make the neck like normal.  Don’t remember if it was rimmed or not… Any ideas?

Back in 1973, I saw a few rounds like this that Herters put out or designed. They extolled the virtues of the double shoulder design in their catalog, but I think everyone figured it was just a joke.
