looking at getting a new project for my encore..anyone have any advise or opinions about 460 or the 500 S&W??also is either one of these cartridges in the right hands elk worthy say 200yrds or less...??what would be the better of the two??

Either would bring down an Elk. Now 200 yards will take some practice with a handgun. There are a lot of bullets for both, loaded correctly they will take just about any game animal. I think with the 45 cal you would get a flatter shooting projectile. I use the 460 for long range shooting and my 500 for up close. JMHO.

I prefer thr 460 because of it's ability to shoot 45 Colts and 454 Casulls also,,,,,,,,,,

thanks for the info..yea what i'm kinda looking for is a big bore out of my encore.barrel lenght i'm not sure about although i will be using it as a hand gun barrel.it will be custom w/ brake from match grade machine.i have a 6.5 rem. mag 15" now an i want something with a little more pop for elk like i said before any shot i'll b taking will be 200 or less.any suggestions??
