List of Ruger SA gunsmiths?
« on: November 10, 2005, 02:17:50 AM »
I want some work done on two Bisleys, a .45LC and a .22LR.  I've been internet searching for 'smiths who will do the work but some can't do what I want, others are hugely expensive, some have 12 month waiting lists.  What I need is shortened barrels with banded front sights, action jobs, lanyard rings, rounded grip heel and 'melted' topstrap.  Is there a list of 'smiths somewhere on the net?  Thanks for any thoughts.

No real list that I'm aware of.  however, let me get this straight...you want specialized custom work done on your Rugr SA's that will be done quickly and inexpensively...Hmmm, those criteria don't go together.  the smith's with higher costs and longer lead times have those because they ARE that good.  Thier customers know of thier quality and know they'l recieve nothing but the finest quality work.  The cheap guys, well, that's what you get, cheap work.  shortening bbls should be able to be done by any gunsmith along with adding the banded front sight and well, the other work too.  What type of finished product you get back, well, like they say, you get what you pay for and don't forget, Rome wasn't built in a day.

were it me, I'd want someone that took pride in thier work and that the finished products showed the quality.  My choice, Bowen, Limbaugh, Maybe even Clements or Reeder.

Check a few posts down and you will see some pics of my Blackhawk that Mr. Clements worked on. I am 110% happy with work. Total cost was within my budget. The work was finished in about 3 months.

Thanks all.

Flintlock, does Dave Clements have a website?  The turnaround time you mention sounds reasonable, my last custom Mauser rifle took two years to complete - and then it was stolen!

Any contact information would be appreciated.
