Replacing the Trigger Guard
« on: November 14, 2005, 02:54:42 PM »
I have ordered from H&R the replacement parts for the fore-end spacer and the trigger guard for my Target Classic.  The price sucks   BUT.....its the only game in town so to speak.  QUESTION.  Has anyone done the replacement and how difficult is the trigger guard to remove and refit???  The fore-end spacer is just two screws but I wonder if the trigger guard is beyond my limited "smithing" skill.....any suggestions??and anyone know a reasonable gunsmith to do this work??  Thanks.

Replacing the Trigger Guard

The trigger guard needs to be fitted, mine had to be ground a bit on the surface that mates to the bottom of the frame so it would fit in the frame far enough to line up the small front pin. Might as well do a trigger job while you're at it, see the trigger job sticky and Perklo's link in the FAQ.
