Purchased my First Handi..
« on: November 14, 2005, 10:18:35 AM »
I just purchased My first Handi.   A .204 Bull Barrel.  I look forward to getting this gun out on the range.  Equiped it with a Nikon Pro Staff 3X9X40    Getting ready to nail some coyotes up in the Panhandle of Texas..    Ive shot my cousins Savage 204 which I like very well...  With the Interchangable Barrels I look forward to many great calibers with my new Handi.   Caint wait to shoot it...

Welcome aboard Ghosthunter3074, My dedicated coyote gun is a Handi Sportster in .22 Mag, of course the ranges I get to shoot them at in Maine are a lot closer than you will be shooting at in the Panhandle. Among other Handi's I have is a bull barrelled .223 which will reach out and touch them at quite a distance. With that bull barrelled .204 you will be knocking them for a loop a long way off. I think at the PD hunt there were some 400+ yard shots made. That young fellow Mitchell connected a few times as well as many of the more "seasoned" guys, but you expect them to be a little more steady (slower :-D ). Come often and stay late, you are welcomed here!!! Let us know how things work out....<><.... :grin:

P.S. I just got a call this morning from a friend who has been invited to hunt a VERY private golf course about 40 miles from us. It seems they have a bad coyote problem, well he has not hunted coyotes and knowing that I do I got the call to go with him!!! Life is good!!!!....<><.... :grin:

congrats on buying my favorite gun.

if your a handloader i've shot about 1000 rds or more through mine and will gladly lend my range notes.

if your shooting factory just buy one box each of the hornady 40 grainers and the 32's. the 40's rocked in mine but the 32 didn't do bad either.

BTW welcome to GBO its quite a fun place and it has lots of imformation here too.
curiosity killed the cat , but i was lead suspect for a while

ghosthunter3074;

Welcome to our madness.  You will probably find these little break open single shots very addictive.  I see you are already talking about all the "great calibers" available in the barrel program.   :)

Yes I am excited.   I look forward to seeing this bad boy in action.   The .204 is a great round from what I have learned.  Like I said, My cousins .204 is awesome.  Its a savage but I love the caliber.  Im hoping my Handi will perform equally as well.   I guess theres a few things I will be doing at first..  ie lapping and breaking the barrell in...  also floating it...     I will let you guys know how the Yote hunt goes.   We are also going to be visiting some Prarie Dog towns as well.   So that should be fun!!!!
