I'm getting pumped up and ready for another South Carolina Western Piedmont and Florida pine flatland riverine floodplain deer season. I am warming up the following:
For deer: .270 Winchester Classic Featherweight w/3X9 Bausch & Lomb scope and 150 gr. Nosler Partition over 54.2 gr. of IMR 4831 powder.
For Hogs: Ruger 77K/22RP w/4X Weaver scope and Federal .22LR 36 gr. copper plated hollow points
For ducks: 12 ga. Winchester Model 1300 pump and Winchester Drylock 3" Mag. 1.25 oz. #4 steel shot
For Turkey: Either the .22LR or the .270 Win. whichever is in hand. Yea, the .270 is too much gun, but when the Florida seasons run concurrently, I'm gunning for BIG game (deer/hogs) and should a bird make an entrance, I'll try for a clean neck shot. Maybe I take the shot, maybe I don't. Depends on the bird's range and presentation.
I hope your pre-season is proceeding as high-voltage as mine. My arsenal may not be as large as some, but I am particularly happy with those pieces in mine. Plus, I'm having difficulty sleeping already in anticipation of this season (like all past seasons).
