460 Rowland

Anyone here have experiance with the 460 Rowland on the 1911 platform? Any info will be gladly received.

I have the 460 rowland on  a colt and it is great.  I have shooting the 185 grain and it shoots great.  It is very accurate and I have no problem hitting a 12" gong offhanded at 100 yds.  It has a little more recoil than the 45 acp, but not much.  I plan on hunting with it to shoot a doe during the special doe season here in OK.  Thanks Jon

The 460 Rowland runs a 185 grain bullet at about 1500 feet per second.  The cases are longer than a speced 45 ACP.  A lot of "fire and brimstone."  A lot of indoor firing ranges have velocity limits and get downright serious when heavy loads hit their backstop.  I assume you plan to reload for your pistol, as loaded ammunition can get pricey.   To each his own.  Whatever floats your boat.  Personally, I'd get a 22 conversion and shoot a couple of bricks of target ammo.  But, that's me.
