Northern Zones (any luck yet)
« on: October 28, 2005, 08:47:57 AM »
Has anyone had much success yet.  Opening day I shot a 205lbs.  6pt. aged at 6.5yrs old.  My brother  got a 145lbs. 8pt 2.5 yrs old.  We have let 5 small bucks walk so far.  We also harvested 3 does so far.  Good luck and let the little bucks walk and become a buck for the wall instead of a small rack in a box in the garage.

I haven't had any luck with deer so far!  I have seen a few though!

My luck has been with coyotes!
Got one with my Encore Muzzle Loader 2 weeks ago and one with my Rem M-7, 7mm-08 today!
There seem to be lots of them this year, tracks everywhere!

I usually have my best luck with deer on SNOW!

I was up in the Aldrich (Star Lake) area for 4 days the week of muzzleloading. Hunted friends  private 1200 acres and saw 21 deer. 1 Small spike and all the rest were does. Could have shot all the does but want them to have fawns next year. Found a lot of rubs though. I called up there a few times last week but they had not gotten any big bucks yet. I am sure they will though as they have some real wall hangers hanging up over the fireplace.

My buddy and I went out this morning in the St Law valley area 6a. He shot this nice 10 point 165 pounds at about 815 this morning. I made a small drive and pushed him across to my buddy. there was only the 2 of us and it worked out greatly

Nice buck, My son and I have also successfully taken deer doing the 'one man push'. It works well, even better than a big drive I think, if you know the land, and what the deer do. Congradulations again on a fine buck.
Sincerely,

I was lucky and got an 8-Pointer on the 19th and my wife filled her DMP on the 23rd!

So, 2 deer in the freezer, we're sittin' pretty good!

Congratulations to all who've been successful and good luck to those who haven't filled yet!

The Sweet Pond Hunting Club borders my Uncle Dick White's property!
It is tucked in-between Russell and Edwards!  The area is called Silver Hill!
