Josh is in the 2nd Marine Div., 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (spec Ops).
Right at the moment he is home until about 10/31..then he goes on deployment..
He married his little bride in a small ceremony at church on Easter Sunday, ahead of their original plan...Her gown is now ready and they will have their belated reception on 10/22..
He was scheduled to go to Afghanistan but will now be heading to Iraq...to one of the very hot spots ( I better not say just where).
He even knows his individual assignment there. He will be his unit's designated sniper. As I understand it he and his " spotter " will more or less free range the battle area, picking targets and engaging special designated targets when called upon.
Apparently not a single task sniper, he will also carry his Beretta and a shotgun (Mossberg 500)..
Josh, his Dad and I visited a friend at work this morning...Bob is the V.Pres. of Ontario Knife Co. & Queen cutlery.
Ontario makes all the Marine corps blades and most of the blades for the other branches.
We toured the plant and Josh was presented with a new knife that is not yet issued, a beautiful aircraft egress and survival knife. It is a bit more compact than most survival blades buit a tremendously rugged piece...Josh plans on attaching it inverted, onto his armored vest..
Prayers for his safety would be appreciated..
