Rebarrelling 788
« on: December 04, 2005, 02:08:21 PM »
 Anybody know if a Rem. 700 take-off bbl can be cut back and rethreaded to fit a 788 receiver?  I know the thread shank is a little larger on the 700 but the 788 shank is longer and the threads are "stepped".  There are always new take-off 700 bbls on Ebay that can be had pretty cheap and I've got a .243 that wants to be a 7mm08  :) Any advice or opinions appreciated.
Please write me off of GB outdoors, I do not want to be a part of it any more.

Definitly yes. I have taken a m700 heavy barrel 308 and rethreaded to 788 and did not have to touch the chamber. :-)
