Tall order there, pard!

Where to see it? Well yer frum Texas... http://www.sassnet.com/pages/Clubs/Texas.html have look there.

Equipment: Weapons would be two single action action revolvers, .32 or larger, Lever action rifle chambered in pistol caliber, an SxS or hammered pump gun 20 gauge - 10 gauge. Of course you will need leather to hold yer revolvers, method of transport fer guns 'n ammo at the range, ergo a gun cart. Also under the equipment thing: clothing! Period or near period correct duds, foot gear 'n head cover.  Also  eye & ear protection!!!!!! That's the bare minimum, theres also side match guns like pocket pistols, derringers, long range lever guns, 'n single shot Buffler gunz! many folks never get into these side match guns at all though. But if you get into NCOWS stuff, they tend to incorperate a lot of pocket pistol shootin into thier main match stages.

Ammo can be smokeless or BP depending on what catagory ya wanna shoot in. And yes you can buy BP ammo over the counter. It's expensive! If you aren't a reloader, you soon will be, might as well face up to it and start thinking about what press you want right now! :)

Recomendations: Get yer main match revolvers and lever gun in the same calibers. Saves hassles at the loading table.  Any good SxS in 20 or twelve gauge will do ya fine. Rossi lever guns are cheap and dependable, the work horse of this game. You can sped a lot more money for classy looking guns but they won't shoot any better than the Rossi! Other comments, if yer really into competition big time, make your first set of irons .38s, if yer interestedin the Darkside go with either 44-40 or .45 Colt. thier cheapset to feed and easiest to load with BP.
Smokeless is only a passing fad!

Notice you are from the S/E section of the Republic.  Several clubs in the Hill Country and the Texas Regulators in Tomball, above Willowbrook Mall if you are familar with Houston.  Their web-site is http://www.geocities.com/texasregulators/

The TR's shoot a week from today.  I would also suggest coming out to one of the matches and see what's going on.  But if you do be ready for someone to put a gun in your hands and want you to shoot along with us.
Let me know if I can give you additional info

Here's some info if you are planning on attending one of our matches:

Probably best way to get there is go north on I-45 and get off at FM 2920 exit (also Old Town Spring exit).  Go west (young man) and stay on it through Tomball.

From the Four Corners intersection in Tomball (FM 2920 and 249) go west on 2920 for 6.5 miles.  This is 3 stop lights, a flashing yellow light and 3 more stop lights.  The last stop light is Mueschke Rd.  Turn left (south) on Mueschke and go for 3.3 miles.  Turn right onto Bauer-Hockley;  there is a large sign that says Matt Family Orchard at this turn in), go about a mile till it dead-ends (this is a very rough road!!).

At the dead end you will see a gate on the left that goes into a cow pasture.  Turn left into this field (wouldn't call it a road) and follow the path till you come to the parked cars.  Park there and follow the parked cars into the range itself.

Now for the details of the matches:

We usually get there around 7:30 on Saturday to help set-up and paint targets, Sunday--around 8:00, we shoot the same stages both days.  If you want to shoot the match briefing is at 8:30--your first match is free with the TR's.  You need shooting glasses and the in-the-ear ear plugs.  Hard to fit the muffs over or under a cowboy hat but if that's all you have then by all means bring them.  A couple bottles of water are nice to have and if you are bringing the Mrs. and she is just there to watch a lawn chair and umbrella is a nice touch for her. We have a goody number of the ladies shooting CAS.

Usually we shoot the 4th Sat and Sun but this month (March) we are shooting a week early because of all the other shoots in the area.
