What is Remington up to importing Serbian bolt actions?

Okay, we know Remington is importing Baikal doubles from Russia now, but they also just struck a deal for 2006 to import Zastava barreled actions from Serbia.  Does anyone know:

1) Will these be the same as the Mauser-type actions that Charles Daly is importing now?
 
or;

2)  Due to the issues at various plants Remington is having here stateside, will Zastava be making the M700's there?

“Zastava Oruzje”, “Remington” sign agreement worth $3.2 million


Kragujevac, Oct 18, 2005 – Director of the factory “Zastava Oruzje” Dragoljub Grujovic and President of the American arms manufacturer “Remington” Thomas Milner signed today in Kragujevac the first commercial agreement for the sale and marketing of “Zastava Oruzje” products in the US during the forthcoming year, in a deal worth $3.2 million.

The agreement concerns the sale and marketing of various “Zastava Oruzje” products including, sport weapons, as well as joint development of new sport models of weapons, exchange of experience and the introduction of technical and technological innovations.

The agreement also envisages that in the forthcoming year, 24,000 carbine and small-calibre units will be placed on the US market; however the carbines will be delivered without butts and with the label, “Remington-Zastava”. The butts will be installed in the US since “Remington” produces quality polymer and layered-wood butts.

The first sale and marketing of “Zastava Oruzje” in the US, Canadian and Mexican markets is expected to take place at the beginning of 2006 and “Remington” has already printed a new catalogue that includes the offer of “Zastava Oruzje” products.

The signing of the agreement was attended by Serbian Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Policy Slobodan Lalovic, Serbian Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic, as well as representatives of the Serbia-Montenegro Ministry of Defence, Serbian Chamber of Commerce, the US embassy in Belgrade, directors of business banks and representatives of local and regional authorities.

i hope it's the start of something good for both them and us.....hoping that Remington turns that 3.2 mil' into   32 mil'.    i'd like to see Remington survive and only improve, along with Ruger.

I'd be quite pleased to find out that this imported action is a MarkX. I've looked at and considered one of the Charles Daly's,but something about them just doesn't suit me. We'll just have to wait and see,I reckon.

The gun shops are already in place in Canada.  We have several shops open now that sell only Russian firearms.  I've looked at some in Pointe Claire, a Montreal suburb and am quite impressed.  However, they look much better than the ones Remington is selling as the Spartan brand, better stocks and bluing.  I don't know how much of it you'll get in the states, but the selection is quite varied.  Best wishes.
