7-08

Got a nice young doe (88# field dressed) with my 15" Encore 7-08 using  139 grain Hornady loads at 75 steps tonite. She was walking, hit her high in back haunch and exited through far side rib cage up high, hole the size of my fist. Needless to say , she stumbled about 10 yards and dropped.. First deer with  a pistol in 30 years. Last was a buck with a 15" 357 Max back in the 70's.need to find a load that isn't so destructive, though no meat was really destroyed  except ribs......

Congrats on the deer, what scope do you have on that 7-08?  You might want to try a 150 gr bullet to reduce meat damage  or just shoot broadside through the lungs if you can.

2x Burris, she was walking when I shot, didn't destroy any meat that we normally use..
