New 223 Ulta
« on: November 22, 2005, 07:17:46 AM »
Just bought a new 223 Ultra var. Now I read the new ones are going to have a 1 n 9  twist, man I should have waited. Will the 1 n 12 still shoot 65 grain rounds ok? 45 grain Win shot great out of my other one. Oh well it will be my varmint gun anyway.

The 1-12" twist will not likely stabilize the longer 65 grain bullet. However, the new 1-9" twist should.

The heaviest bullet I have heard shot through a Handi was a Sierra Gameking 63 grain and he was getting pretty good groups as I remember it.

If you just bought it - check the twist rate by hand ... you may have a 1:9 twist and just don't know it.  They came out kinda unannounced.
