Bladerunner, I like your report! Thank you! Very interesting concept, lightweight, effective, accurate. Sounds like a real nice rig for walking around.
Some months ago I asked about the use of the 243 for turkey ( fall season here in Pa. ) and I got a favorable response. I have personally seen this cartridges effectiveness on deer.
Yeah, I bet you love this rifle!                       Woodbutcher

Woodbutcher, most are a little,hmmm,squirrely....mine was shooting about 10 inch groups so i sent it back to NEF and the replaced the barrel latch....then it shot about a 3 inch group with winchesters, about a 2" group with remingtons now about a 1" group with federal fusions....alot of people give up on gettin 'em to shoot right or have to try every trick in the book (bedding,O-rings,trigger jobs) but mine (thankfully) decided to SHOOT    :D

Bladerunner, you give sensible advice, thank you. The desirable benefits of that rifle are worth the effort, and I like that rifle! Maybe someday, in my travels, I might even see and handle one. When that happens, stick a fork in me, I'm done!
A little 2 to 7 scope would be worth considering.

BTW,the 3 shots were fired like this....first shot hit the black,so i walked to the target and looked and came back....took aim fired a shot....reloaded and shot again....no time in between 2nd and third shot

and yes,Woodbutcher,a 2x7 would be a great scope for this rifle....small and light....but mine has the bushnell banner 3x9x40 that i bought from Jon at the Optic Zone that's advertised on this forum ...great prices and fast shipping....good customer service, too   :D
