Got one!
« on: November 23, 2005, 02:30:59 PM »
And you thought it was a deer I got! :)
Actually I ordered a Burris 4x26 for my SRH and should be here
after the holidays. The reddot I have on it goes dim after a few shots
so I decided to get a scope that will go dim or I forget to turn on/off
or need a battery when I need it most.
Got a better warranty than the Bushnell Elites too!

How can you do that? The warranty on Elites is for LIFE and for the first year they offer a money back no questions asked refund if you're not happy for any reason.

What I meant was the Burris is as good as the one the Elites has
if not better.

I've never used the Burris warranty. Partly that's because one of their biggest distributors told me even for them it's a nightmare sending scopes back. They told me Burris often loses them completely and doesn't even always send back the same type scope shipped to them. Getting work done at Burris seems to be hit or miss from the reports I've read on the internet for many years and heard from folks I know.

So I've just put them on a gun I was trading off or sold them with the understanding they'd have to deal with Burris and let them go at greatly reduced rates when I have had problems. Yeah several have gone by those means but some handgun scopes seemed fine.

But one thing is for sure, there will never be another Burris scope come home with me.

Some folks have complained on here about Bushnell too but I dunno. All of my dealings with them have gone smoothly. They are the only one in the industry to offer a one year no questions asked refund of your purchase price.

Pretty much every thing I have scoped is either Bushnell or Leupold.

I have an elite on my 300 wsm and it holds up just fine.
The rainguard works really well and the fast focus feature is super.
I read different reviews about Burris and how they hold up exceptionally
well on the heavy recoiling handguns and besides it was cheaper than
the elite for handguns.

I have 2 Burris, a 2X and a 3X with a adjustable AO. It has been on my Contender, 357 Max, 223 and 45-70. It's been trouble free, and it's a old scope, had it for 30 years or so. Have 3 Buris II Fullfields, they have been fine too.Shot a nice doe with my 15"  Encore 7mm-08 the other  evening with the 2x Burris on it. Had weird results, 139 grain Hornady blew a fist size hole on exit on far side, high up in rib cage, but found bullet just under skin near entry wound??? The deer was walking normally when I shot her at 80 yards, but I don't see how the bullet ended up where it did unless it had been shot before? Will know more after I butcher it on out.

Right now, hunting with my Encore 7mm-08 rifle with Bushnell 3200 3x9 with rain guard.
I use Nikon, Bushnell, Weaver, Burris, Buckmaster, Simmons, and Mueller, never had a failure with any of them.

 I have a lot of respect for Bushnell.  I own several of them and have never had a problem with any of them.  I put a 6x Bushnell on a BSA 30-06 back in the early sixties, it is still on the gun, and still puts the bullets on the target.  This gun did not come out of the safe for many years, but two years ago I loaned the gun to a friend that was visiting from out of state.  We popped a couple of rounds at a target before hunting, the old gun and scope functioned flawlessly.

Today I own several different types of "high dollar" scopes, they have yet to prove that they are any better than the old Bushnell.

mr. frosty;

Congrats on the new scope for your handgun. Hope you have a lot of fun with it.
Heck..nowdays I get just as excited about a new scope as I do a new gun.  Must come with age or something.  :?
Good Luck.

For all you Burris lovers, I have a 3x9 fullfield matte, RAC in the box with paper work, that I would like to get rid of. I know this isn't the classifieds but, email me for information?
