.260 encore i think is a keeper
« on: April 07, 2006, 11:47:27 AM »
last week i shot my encore in .260 with mixed results. using 2 h4350 and imr4350 i managed one 1" group with each powder and 2 groups closer to 2" with each powder. the bullet of choice was the speer 120gr. hotcor. i noticed that the 2 "good" groups i shot were with a cold barrel.  today i sent some more rounds down the pipe. i used the following loads

h4831     49.5
imr4831  44.0
imr4350  44.0
RL19       46.5

the same 120gr. speer bullet was used as well. today i made sure and cooled the barrel between each group in the truck a/c.(here in southeast texas it is already pretty hot) on a good note, all loads grouped 1" or less, except the RL19 which was 2.25". now its time to twick it the loads a little.

Look's like a good start, anytime you get under 1" with multiple loads. Usually my guns shoot better after 100-200 rounds, so it looks like you have a good barrel.
You will not make peace with the Bluecoats, you are free to go.
