Yes, I landed a coyote at 256 yards. We measured it to make sure. I was using a SB2 Ultra Heavy Barrel in .223. My scope is a 3-9x50 Simmons. I was shooting reloaded brass (the 7th time) sized with a RCBS X-Die. It was topped with a Hornady 55 grn soft point with a canalure. My powder was AA2520 that I had picked up on sale for $10.00. Primers were Winchester small rifle. Now the coyote was at a trotting pace. Just as his nose touched my cross hairs I fired. In my scope he folded up. I drove over to check him out. I had broke his back. The bullet hit him 4 inches from the base of his tail. I had to finish him with a .22 LR rifle I had with me. I am not an avid hunter. I saw the shot and took it. Not bad for that little single shot. I love my little H&R.
