H&R 649 .22LR DA Handgun

Hi, This is my first post so if I mess it up pls. let me know.
I took in a H&R 649 Pistol 22 LR for repair. Disassembled and found lifter broken and lever or hand with no wire. So I ordered new parts and installed them but I'm having trouble getting the lever to turn the cylinder. Is there a standard way to do this? I reallly need some help. I've done other revlovers and no problem. but never a new lever with a long wire..
Gun is in great shape, everything works good.

These break tops can be a real pain to get the proper parts for. They were made in tremendous variation within models!! Does the lever come out of the frame cut? Was the spring installed on the lever when you received it? That spring forces the lever into the correct relationship with its frame window.  This link has a diagram that may help. It's not the correct model but the actions have many similarities.  If the lever comes out of the frame window but doesn't reach the cylinder, you may simply have the wrong one.
