41 mag twist?

What's the normal twist for a 41 mag? Is there more than one choice? In a T/C? In a revolver? Are the T/C and the revolver the same?

I know that the Rugers in .41Magnum are generalized at 1:20 twist. I believe that holds true for the T/C also. I've got a Ruger Bisley from Davidsons that has a 1:16 twist in .41Magnum. It likes hard cast bullets over 250gr. Freedom Arms and DW also have faster twist barrels that I think are 1:16 or 1:16.5 in .41Magnum. These shoot the heavy .41s very accurately. Someday I'm going to make a list of all the .41Magnums and their twist rate. Just something else I haven't "gotten around toit" yet. :-D

It might not be appropriate for the 210s and under. If you've got it, try a few 210s and see what accuracy is like. Don't drive them too fast. If accuracy isn't up to par, try some Winchester Platinum Tips at 240gr and see how they do if you don't reload. If they're a little better than the 210s, try some Federal Cast Core at 250gr. I've not run into a .41 caliber barrel that fast. It should be good for the heavies. If it shot well with the heavies, I'd have it run out to .414SM and try some 275 and 300 grain cast LFN bullets. Have fun experimenting. :-)
