Muzzel Tamer Question
« on: December 01, 2005, 10:03:12 AM »
I apologize for maybe the stupidity of this question.  I am aksing as I do not know the answer and I have received lots of great information in the past.

I have a 16.25" rifle barrel for a T/C Contender.  I have always used hearing protection when shooting it at the range.  I recently went hunting without muffs and it ROCKED my ears.  I am considering going to the doctor as it has been a couple days and my left ear still sounds funny.

Stupid Question:
What would happen if I cover the holes in the muzzel tamer when I am hunting with maybe a couple wraps of black electrical tape.  Would I just feel the full recoil or would I blow the end of the barrel off the gun, damage the gun, kill me, etc...

I appreciate the lesson in gunsmithing/physics.

The tape will blow off and it'll still blast your ears. For hunting with a braked gun I like to use the Walker's Game Ear. It's not as big as muffs and will give you some protection. Don't shoot braked guns without ear protection. (as you have discovered)

AMEN! nobade-- Tape will not keep the holes covered. The game ears will help.
