I'm thinking maybe a golfball mortar.
I may not be completely sane, but at least I don't think I have the power to influence the weather.

My wife keeps looking at the stack of English oak seasoning in the garage and I think she may suspect

I have the tube for one of DD's KISS golf ball mortars in my lathe right now. It's a small lathe and the going is slow....but it's going.

8-9 inch Wheels, dictator carriage (my prototype cracked so this may have to wait until I can redesign), field or ship carriage or both, 6 inch wheels or ship style wheels, re-bore on a dictator I have to accept paintballs, then probably more wheels, screw breech golf ball cannon, foundry work on a golfball mortar (anyone out there have a recommendation on type of brass (or even bronze) to pour), machining previous golfball mortar...

That's all I can think of right now but I have a few dozen more cannon/mortar projects in the works. Today is shop clean-up day then I hope to start my newest wheel project.

Goal? You mean I'm supposed to have a goal? I guess it is to have a small array of various pieces which will look good on the desk or by the fireplace but which look and function best at the range.

There is more but I can't remember what I forgot..., pyro_tek

Here's mine.  Made a trade for a piece of steel for a beer can mortar.  Got my hands on some  6 PDR balls and decided to upgrade.

I had Wes "PowderKeg"  open the bore up from beer can to 6PDR, since I didn't have a steady rest or equipment to build a steady rest big enough to fit my lathe.

Before and after.

Now doesn't that look better.  And this too.!

Of course I had Wes build me a mould so I can cast my on roundball.

The project is on hold right now,  while I get ready to move to South Africa.  When I get back in 2 years and retire this will be a my priority project.

This is my list of major projects;

12 pdr coehorn - I have the steel I just need to work on some tooling
1/2 scale mountain howitzer with pack carriage - golf ball caliber
Boat howitzer - golf ball caliber
8” siege mortar - beer can or 6pdr
Parrot rifle – not sure the scale yet
Ship cannon – not sure the style 24 pdr possible
Some handgonnes and “toy” style cannons

If I get though these I also have a mile long list of steam engines IÂ’d like to build.

I'm starting to make progress on a bowling ball mortar I've been harping about. Goal---hope to have it shooting next spring. Collecting balls now.

Put some pics up of your 6 pdr or beer can seige mortar when you can. It would be interesting to see.

Dictator carriage?

8-9 inch wheels, dictator carriage ,re-bore on a dictator etc etc...I'm wondering what was ment by that? Are you planning on building a dictator mortar cannon?  Also it was mentioned work was beginning on a bowling ball mortar? Do you have any pictures or details of what it is?I'm also interested in what kind of money the barrel pipe pictured might have cost?

I have the plans for building spoked wheels proper for a pair of field carriages I have. Next up is to build the carriage for a Dictator-style tube I have. I built up a prototype with the help of the folks here on the BPMC forum. Now I need to tweak the design a little and get going in the workshop. That tube is just shy of the caliber for paintballs. The walls of the tube are very thick so I'll be able to expand the bore and still have wall thickness to spare. I don't have a mold that fit's either the current caliber or the re-bore size but at least with the rebore I'll be able to try paintballs. Clear as mud? p_t

The siege mortar is in the planning stages right now.  The 12pdr will be my next priority.  Then I'll work on the mountain and ship howitzers.  I'll probably bore them out at the same time as the bores are almost identical.  The rest are in my "someday" category.

I'll be sure to post pictures of everything as I build them.

Uh oh, looks like someone forgot to include something in the pictures.  Oh well, perhaps the pictures were taken long before the powder can policy came into effect.  :)  :) That's OK DD.

Actually Bob, the pictures predate the Powder can requirement and are exempt under the grandfather clause as other item common items, soda pop can and .458 bullet mould are included to give perspective.

And that is exactly why I covered my rear end by mentioning that perhaps the pictures were taken LONG BEFORE the powder can policy came into effect.... :)  :D

I'm planing on building a 24 pound Howitzer. I have plans and steel cut out for some 1/2 scale Epprouvett mortars like the smaller ones on the BNA website. They will be beercan shooters. Pretty quick I need do build some more beercan mortars like the last batch.

For myself I have a 3/4 scale mountian howitzer. I have suitable wheels. The tail is glued up. I need to buy a bandsaw big enough to cut it to shape though :(  I also need to finish the first batch of 50 caliber cannons I started a while back.

Oh, and my lathe is broke. Probably better fix that first.

Busy, Busy, Busy.....

I am currently working on two oak naval trundles for my 1/3 scale 6 pound Grey Stars.,

and then will be working on a bronze beer can mortar from Wes (A sled)

Then just gathering 8 wheels for the spring project .,my twin Hern Foundry 2/3 scale 3" ordinance rifles...., however they 2 will be in a naval trundle., wrong as it may be .,but I cant use them on the sea wall in a field carriage. Its cool to build stuff  .,you know their going to fight over after your gone
