Has anyone heard of when the Stainless G2's are comming out?  Has TC mentioned it to anyone or maybe said anything at the Shot Show?

That article states:

"Ritz also mentioned that both the Contender and Encore will be chambered for the .500 S&W and .460 S&W versions are in development."

Can that possibly be correct?

Also the caption underneath the picture states:

"T/C has chambered both the Encore and Contender for the bruising 500 S&W."

i don't think the .500 is a high-pressure round, just that it whacks you hard when you pull the trigger.

think .45-70.

I don't know about the 500, but I remember reading in an article about the 460 that the rear of the barrel (at the barrel/cylinder gap) on the new S&W revolver had to be given some special treatment to help deal with the high pressures of the new round.  I'd be surprised if T/C chambers the Contender in 460 S&W.

a S&W revolver cant take anywhere near the pressure of a closed-breech contender. not the same thing. apples and oranges and such ;)

Hmmm... you can't get anyone to chamber a Contender barrel in 454 Casull yet S&W does a stretch version of it in their revolver: the 460S&W which they also state fires 454...

thanks for setting me straight guys. i really thought those new big cartridges were like the .45-70 in that they packed a whallop but not high pressure.

good to know.
