Hate this warm weather!!!
« on: December 07, 2005, 02:01:48 AM »
Man!  For the last 2 weeks I've been having a grand time. We were really having a great winter though a tad chilly 0 to -25 at my place.  Just enough snow to drag a sled while hiking but not enough for most snogo riders to be out.  I was getting some traps out, finding moose, wolf, fox and coyote tracks on my trail and enjoying having much of the country to myself.  Very few snogos ripping about with noise and stink.  But not enough snow for decent snaring or even good standard sets.

And yeah, if there had been more snow I'd have been on my snogo too.

Now its +30 pouring rain and forecast to be +40 tomorrow! (Well later today).  Glad I pulled the 2 sets I had going.  What a mess.  Lots of cars in the ditches this morning, had to change the kids clothes 3 times this evening - playing in the snow they got soaked and their sledding hill is turning to mush.

Oh well.  Easier on the heat bill these days but I do long for the winters where it stayed colder the whole time.

Are you the one

Are you the one that sent his rain/snow/rain crap over this way?

The water is just pouring off of the roof.  I might have to shovel it just because of the weight.  Snowblower hates this stuff too.  It is like trying to move wet cement.

Your right about the heat.... the little woodstove is keeping the place toastier. :D

No I don't wish this junk weather on anybody.  Especially anyone who has little kids cooped up inside.  And yeah I know how tough it is on the snow blower.  That's why I also sigh up with a local plow service for the rainy, drifting, slushy days.

Time to reload I guess.  Break out the pellet rifles and set up the garage range.

Glad I'm not babysitting a plane in this stuff either.  These are the days when a plane is just a burden.  At least the pilots here don't have to sweep off the wings every few hours.

It sure has screwed up a number of folks' winter moose hunt plans. Makes travel dangerous.  The troopers here have been issuing warnings on the local radio.

Oh well.  There's not much we can do but gripe or find something else to do.

Do not gripe to much, it might inspire Al Gore (former VP, presidential canidate, and inventor of the internet) to come "help" you.

Hay, it's even warm here in North Pole, went from -43 to +28 in 24 hours.  Supposed to go into the mid +30s today.  Last night over twenty cars in the median or ditch between Fairbanks and North Pole.  Stopped to check on one car that went in the ditch just ahead of me.  A bunch of teenagers jumped out and wanted to get into my truck.  Seems the driver had a restricted licsense, no one under 18 other than family allowed to be in the car.  They were all under 18.  Too late a trooper was right behind me.  Got em!  His six month probation period just got started over.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I got home tonight and God had helped me clean the roof off.  He very neatly placed a pile of snow from the roof 3 feet x 12 feet long all onto the five steps getting into the house.  It took me an hour last night to clean 1/3 of the roof off alone.  Tomorrow is going to be a Valdez Health Club day. (Otherwise known as shoveling heavy snow all day type of day.

Things are looking better

Ahh,   10 degrees this morning and a bit of sun.  Things are looking up!
Now to chase the boys outside.

Valdez Health Club!  I like it Dave!  Snow dropped like that can be like cement to shovel.   Good luck.

I used to work on a research boat that one guy named the "Resolution Diet Plan".  It had a nasty roll in rough water that was hard on many folks' stomach.  Didn't help that the boat was painted green too.
