YO Exotics
« on: March 21, 2005, 03:56:18 PM »
I have made a few post's lately on exotics, but for the folks that are interested in monster size exotics, this is the place.----------I saw the biggest Axis there that I have ever seen, and I see Axis deer every day.  I just finished checking their site and the Fallow and Axis that came off of that ranch last year is almost unbelievable. They are high priced, I know thats a real surprise. Your total for a one to three day hunt including guides room and board will be from 2100. to 2500. Guys this is where the exotic thing all started, they were the first and looks like they are still the best. Thought some of you may be interested.--------vernonp

I'll second Vernon. I dinked around looking at a 37" axis and he was gone before I got my gun on him. Dumb. YO has a summer special of like $1925 food, lodging and guide for a monster axis. I'll be back at the SCI Handgun hunt in December.

8) The YO is definitely one of the top spots for a big Axis.  A few years back, I took a 36" and a 35" on the same hunt, but the length of the main beams alone is not the thing that makes a big axis.  The YO Axis have what seem to be longer caudal tines than some from other areas.  I heard there was a monster nontypical roaming the ranch, but we did not see him at the December HG hunt.  I am planning on making a July hunt in the middle of the rut to see if I can find him, or another big one.

I saw him at the SCI hunt. He was a monster. Just sitting in the shade on the side of the road as we drove past. That was before I realized how neat a trophy an axis is.

The new worlds record Axis was killed there this past July. You can go to their site www.yoranch.com and see a picture of him. He is unbeleiveable. vernonp

I went to the Brady ranch in Florida and the Axis deer are no where near the size of the ones on the YO Ranch.    I think I will have to go there some time.  :D
