Savage 99 parts replacement

Getting ready to order a replacement hammer indicator and spring for my Savage 99C in 243 win.  Question: is installing this something a reasonably adept do it yourselfer can do?

Actually I've never had to replace one but it shouldn't be a problem, especially with the 'C' model. If you don't mind, what happened to necessitate the part be replaced??  Below I've posted a parts diagram. Its for a spool mag model but the esential components are the same.

Gunnut the little gold colored part that pops up and down just fell out.  I pushed it back in but it doesn't do the up and down thing any more.  PS It came this way from a seller on one of the online auctions.

The parts diagram on the reply above should give you some idea of how it is removed. Not too bad..
